SIPS: Take a flight at the Draft House Bar

With around 95 beers on tap and 80 in bottles, the Draft House Bar on Third Street can be intimidating for the casual beer drinker. Even with the beers broken down by type on the menus, it still makes for several pages of brews to thumb through at this recent addition to the downtown scene.
“Every week, there’s always something new on tap,” manager Don Robin says.
For those of us who have trouble deciding, a beer flight opens up the options with four beers to try—each in a six-ounce glass, with all four nestled on a wood paddle.

Robin says the knowledgeable bar staff will usually quiz patrons on what types of beers they’ve had and gauge how adventurous they might be before deciding the progression of flavors they can arrange on a beer flight.
“Say it’s someone who has only ever had domestics,” Robin says. “If they might be scared to try new things, we can slowly lead them down the path to get to new beers—something they’ve never had before.”
Flights run around $10-$15 based on the price of the beer. The extensive menu lists prices for six-ounce and 16-ounce pours.
So if you want to work your way up to darker beers, sip different takes on one style or sample all the local brews you’ve been meaning to try, a beer flight will help you discover four whole new worlds of beer. drafthousebar.com
