Shop, eat and experience Turkish culture at the Louisiana Turkish Art & Craft Festival April 29

This Sunday, broaden your horizons and experience a different culture at the Louisiana Turkish Art & Craft Festival.

Throughout the day, festivalgoers will be able to shop for Turkish rugs and a variety of handmade crafts. There will also be an ebru (water marbling) station, henna station, calligraphy station and a station where attendees can learn more about Turkish culture. The event will also include bounce houses and a face painting station.

Traditional Turkish foods will be available for purchase, such as doner, a Turkish gyro; baklava; lahmacun, a Turkish pizza; and simit, a Turkish bagel.

The festival is organized by the Atlas Foundation, which is a nonprofit organization that promotes interfaith and intercultural dialogue in Louisiana. Throughout the year, the organization hosts an array of events, including cooking classes, movie nights, festivals, panels, book clubs and dinners dedicated to observing Abrahamic Traditions, Ramadan and Thanksgiving.

The Louisiana Turkish Art & Craft Festival is this Sunday, April 29, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Atlas Foundation, 7712 Goodwood Blvd. Admission is free.
