Now open: Mr. Ronnie’s Famous Hot Donuts

Mr. Ronnie’s Famous Hot Donuts, a Houma-based 24/7-donut chain, has opened its first Baton Rouge location at 216 Lee Drive. Ronnie Picou started the business in 1994. Director of franchise development Rocky McMillan met with Picou three years ago to discuss expanding to different cities. A Baton Rouge location was a “no-brainer,” McMillan told 225 Dine in April. The business does classics such as hot glazed, chocolate and sprinkle-covered donuts, as well as twists, filled donuts, cake donuts, puffed pastries, éclairs, donut holes and kolaches, which will be served 5 a.m.-11 a.m. daily. From 11 a.m.-4 a.m., Mr. Ronnie’s will also serve signature mini burgers, which come in orders or three, six or 12. A grand opening event for the Lee Drive location is planned for the fall.
