Late-night eats for those late-night cravings in Baton Rouge

Late-night cravings: We all get them. It always seems to happen once you’re tucked into bed, and your mind starts wandering to all the sweets you could be indulging in. Or it’s after a long night out with friends that you instruct the Uber driver to stop off at a 24-hour diner.

But what makes late-night cravings the worst is hunting for good places still open after 9 p.m. That’s why we found a few local options open late to satisfy your sweet tooth—and we threw a few savory options into the mix, too. Share your favorite late-night spots in the comments so we can try them, too.

The Chimes: From its hot fudge brownie sundae to its Cheesecake du Jour, this local restaurant and bar isn’t just known for its beer. The rest of The Chimes’ popular menu items are available late as well, if you’re into something more savory. Open until 2 a.m. Monday-Saturday and 11:30 p.m. on Sundays.

Coffee CallThanks to Coffee Call, you don’t have to drive all the way to Cafe Du Monde for a sugary sweet beignet. At this New Orleans-style cafe, you can grab a bag of beignets, a cup of hot chocolate and browse the Internet while the rest of the city is still asleep. Open until 2 a.m. Monday-Thursday and 24 hours Friday-Sunday.

Everything PhillyWho doesn’t love a good carnival-style funnel cake after 10 p.m? Everything Philly stays up late serving slices of pizza, but you can also get funnel cake and Philly Ice (flavored shaved ice) until midnight Sunday-Thursday and 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

Insomnia Cookies: What’s better than having a box of warm cookies and a cold cup of milk delivered to your door? At Insomnia Cookies, customers can either pick up or have their cookies, ice cream sandwiches or ice cream delivered daily until 3 a.m.

Louie’s Cafe: In addition to having breakfast served 24 hours, at Louie’s Cafe you can dine-in or order your late-night snack to-go. Its dessert menu includes bread pudding, apple pie, vanilla ice cream and a chocolate brownie sundae—not to mention all those omelettes, pancakes and Cajun hashbrowns to soak up the booze. Open 24 hours.

Olive or TwistOlive or Twist serves its full food menu until 11 p.m., meaning you can get a perfect dessert pairing for your favorite sweet cocktail. Dessert options include chocolate cake, Oreo bread pudding and pecan pie cannoli. If you’re looking for something heartier, you can choose from options such as short rib egg rolls, shrimp and grit cakes or poutine.

The Overpass Merchant: The Perkins Road overpass area favorite has carved out space on its menu for late-night eats (10 p.m.-1:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday) including Truffle Frites, Korean Pork Frites and some spicy chicken wings.

Yogurtland on Corporate Boulevard: After a hot day, cool down in the wee hours at Yogurtland with a variety of frozen yogurt and toppings to choose from. Frozen yogurt flavors change seasonally, but often include dutch chocolate, cheesecake, coconut and cookies and cream. Open until 11 p.m. daily
