The inaugural Capital City Seafood Festival takes place Sept. 1-2

Most of us Louisianans love seafood, but organizing an entire festival in its honor is a pretty exceptional idea. Enter: Capital City Seafood Festival.

With 10 food vendors, an extensive music lineup and a number of notable speakers, the Labor Day weekend festival at the Baton Rouge State Fair Grounds is hitting the ground running in its inaugural year.

The festival’s welcoming remarks will be delivered by Mayor Sharon Weston Broome on Saturday at noon. After her speech, the live music kicks off. Performers include Tucka, Cupid and J Paul & The Zydeco Nubreeds. Award-winning gospel artist Brianna “Bri” Babineaux will also grace the stage. View the full performance schedule here.

And, of course, it wouldn’t be a seafood festival without the seafood—the food vendors will be serving everything from boiled shrimp to crawfish fettuccine.

Whether you’re looking to indulge in the good eats, lose yourself in the music or simply soak in the Louisiana culture, the Capital City Seafood Festival has you covered. The festival will take place Sept. 1-2, 10 a.m.-10 p.m., at the Baton Rouge State Fair Grounds.

One-day tickets are $20 during pre-sale, or $25 at the door. You can also purchase a $40 weekend pass. Secure your tickets here. The festival grounds are at 16072 Airline Highway.
