Get your Eleven on with 11 waffle dishes around town that remind us of ‘Stranger Things’

If you’re one of the 15.8 million people who streamed season two of Stranger Things as soon as it hit Netflix, chances are you’ve been infected with the sweet, sweet subliminal Eggo messaging. We’re all just going about our days, having now-memories of waffles of all shapes and sizes, with no Bob the Brain to help us find our way to the nearest waffle-wielding eatery. Don’t worry—much like Steve Harrington with a nail bat, we’ve got your back.

1. Bananas Foster Waffles at Another Broken Egg
From the people dishing out gourmet breakfast every day of the week, there is the Bananas Foster Waffle, a fluffy Belgian waffle smothered in New Orleans-style Bananas Foster Sauce with pecans, fresh bananas and whipped cream.

2. Chicken & Waffles Acadian at Olive or Twist
Find this Creole twist on the classic during the gastropub’s Sunday brunch—fried chicken breast on a maple-infused Belgian waffles, topped with creamy Cajun Monica sauce. Sub in maple syrup if you’re feeling basic.

3. Fruity Belgian Waffles at Mason’s Grill
If you want something less chicken and more waffle at your Sunday brunch, try Mason’s straight-forward Belgian waffle topped with berries, powdered sugar and whipped cream.

4. Waffle Cheese Fries at Walk On’s Bistreaux & Bar
Potatoes can be as waffle as they wanna be, y’all. Walk-On’s famous waffle-cut fries come piled with Monterey Jack, cheddar, bacon, banana peppers and green onions and served up with a side of chipotle ranch. If you want to add a little smoky protein, ask for barbecue pulled pork on top.

5. Waffle Wednesdays at Go YaYa’s Crepes
Starting at 11 a.m. on Wednesday morning, this crêperie in Main Street Market serves up a smoked Gouda waffle paired with crispy fried chicken and a house-made honey jalapeño garlic sauce.

6. Gelato with Handmade Waffle Cones at La Divina Gelateria
We love a scratch-made Italian gelato, especially La Divina’s always creative seasonal flavors. For a dessert waffle experience, order your scoops in a fresh, house-made waffle cone.

Another waffle with every day availability can be found at Baton Rouge’s trustiest diner, Louie’s Cafe. Order it up plain or of the pecan variety. Excellent for hangovers.

Portobello’s Saturday/Sunday brunch menu features chicken and waffles on the sweeter side, including fried chicken breast on a Belgian waffle with fresh strawberry puree and a maple syrup, honey, lemon juice and cayenne reduction.
