Frank’s Restaurant, a popular eatery at 8353 Airline Highway, is picking up the pieces after an accidental fire damaged its adjacent smokehouse Sunday night.

The popular Capital City restaurant’s smokehouse caught fire around 9 p.m., according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department. The accidental fire is said to have started in a storage room. Firefighters were able to contain it hours later. Ross Dedman, a manager at Frank’s, says the smokehouse has fire, smoke and water damage.

The restaurant was not affected by the fire. However, Dedman says the restaurant’s catering department was affected, and that Frank’s is currently moving pieces around from its Prairieville location, making adjustments for incoming catering orders.

“It’s an emotional blow,” Dedman says. “But we’re fully functional.”

A rebuild of the damaged smokehouse is being determined now by the restaurant owners.
