Fast break: Discovering tasty lunch fare at Ambrosia’s deli
Almost every Baton Rougean is familiar with Ambrosia Bakery‘s heavenly strawberry cakes, oversized cookies and gooey, rich brownies.
But a few steps past the glass cases of saccharine treats is a deli counter serving lunch items that are just as delectable.
The menu includes classic items like a grilled chicken sandwich, club sandwich, shrimp po-boys and tuna wraps. A few more deluxe items on the menu include a Philly cheesesteak sandwich, a West Coast turkey wrap, a very extreme Greek burger and a pepper jack roast beef wrap.

I ordered the pepper jack roast beef wrap, and it was so savory that I was a little disappointed I couldn’t finish it all. That may have been because I indulged on a few too many samples of peanut brittle and doberge cake while I waited.
The wrap came with thinly-sliced roast beef, shredded lettuce, tomatoes and melty pepper jack cheese tucked nicely into a wheat tortilla.
It was a clean wrap—not one of those impossible-to-eat wraps that fall apart at your fingertips.
In addition to all those tasty wraps and sandwiches, the deli offers full-service breakfast including quiche and omelets, pancakes and waffles, French toast and breakfast sandwiches.
For anyone working in the Siegen Lane area, Ambrosia’s deli is a good go-to for lunch. It’s quick, appetizing and every item is less than $10.
Ambrosia Bakery is at 8546 Siegen Lane. The deli is open 6:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and 7 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday.
