What the Health app scores Louisiana inspections
A new app, dubbed What the Health, was released last week. The app is available for free download on iPhone and Android devices. Augusta, Georgia, natives Chris Peoples and Jake Van Dyke created the app, which shows consumers health inspection reports and uses a letter grade system and 0-100 score for each establishment based on the report. By using your location, the app pulls in some of the closest restaurants, stores and other businesses that are inspected by the the state Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH). However, the DHH does not grade establishments with a letter or numerical scale. So, once you tap on a place, you’ll see a list of violations. The app does not specify if the violations are critical or non-critical, unlike the DHH’s inspection reports available at Eat Safe. For more information on the app, click here.
