Heritage Ranch relocates 8th annual Heritage Gala after flooding

After Heritage Ranch Christian Children’s Home was affected by flooding, its annual Heritage Gala is moving to the Renaissance Baton Rouge Hotel this week.

The Friday, Sept. 16, event includes food from local restaurants, cocktails, entertainment, auctions and a jewelry raffle, according to a press release. A few of the restaurants serving up food include City Pork, Juban’s Restaurant, Brew Ha-Ha and Ruffino’s Italian Restaurant, among others.

Funds from the gala will go toward the Heritage Ranch program and rebuilding after the flood, according to the press release.

Jolie Pearl Oyster Bar to host beer dinner

Jolie Pearl Oyster Bar will host its “Oyster Beer Dinner” tonight, Sept. 14.

Live music begins at 6 p.m. with dinner starting at 6:30 p.m. The cost of the dinner is $35 per person or $50 per person for beer and dinner.

Tonight’s dinner includes dishes like BBQ Oyster and Grits and Oyster Rockefeller Pasta, according to a menu provided by Jolie Pearl.

Green Paradise rescheduled to this week; proceeds go to flood relief

Originally scheduled for Aug. 13, Baton Rouge Green moved its annual Green Paradise event to Friday, Sept. 16.

A portion of the proceeds will go toward the Baton Rouge Area Foundation’s Flood Relief fund, according to a recent Baton Rouge Green press release.

“We invite our community to come out for an evening of fun, food and music, and a much-deserved break. The rebuilding will continue for months, and there will be much more to be done for those in need. On [Sept.] 16, come see friends, celebrate, and check your worries at the door, if only for a few hours,” Baton Rouge Green Board President Rawlston Phillips says in the press release.

The event is 7-10 p.m. at The Capitol Park Museum. Tickets can be purchased on the Baton Rouge Green website.


Raising Cane’s holds fundraiser for flood relief

Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers is looking to help flood victims one meal order at a time.

Today, Sept. 14, Cane’s is donating 100 percent of its net proceeds to Baton Rouge Area Foundation’s Flood Relief fund, according to a press release.

Cane’s 21 greater Baton Rouge restaurants, including Hammond locations, are participating. In Acadiana, six locations are participating and, according to the press release, will donate funds to the Greater Acadiana United Way Disaster Fund and Second Harvest Food Bank of Acadiana.

LSU Museum of Art hosts ‘Cocktails in Color’ event

Pairing with LSU Museum of Art’s new exhibit “Painting Enlightenment: Experiencing Wisdom and Compassion through Art and Science,” the museum is holding the first of its “Cocktails in Color” series with “Cocktails in Color: Sake Tasting and Stargazing.”

The event on Thursday, Sept. 15, is 7-9 p.m. and will begin on the fifth floor of the Shaw Center for the Arts at the galleries. Guests will tour the “Painting Enlightenment” exhibition while discussing color’s role in the art, according to the Facebook event page.

After, attendees will head to the Pennington Rooftop Terrace for a Sake tasting and menu samples provided by Tsunami.

Baton Rouge Astronomical Society will lead a stargazing program to end the evening.

“Sake Tasting and Stargazing” is $10 for museum members and $15 for nonmembers.


Tin Roof holding ‘Halfway to St. Pat’s Day’

It’s been six months since St. Patrick’s Day and The Halfway Krewe would like to give you a refresher on green beer. 

On Friday, Sept. 16, 6-9 p.m., join Tin Roof Brewing Company for the second annual “Halfway to St. Pat’s Day” celebration. The event will include food trucks, music and beer, according to the Facebook event page.

The event page suggests a $10 donation to go toward  Alzheimer’s Services of the Capital Area and Michael J. Fox Foundation. The bar is a cash bar.
