Casual cocktail dinner at Shoppers Choice on Thursday
Chefs Kelley McCann and Jesse Romero will team up with Lawrence Steele of Pernod Ricard to host a casual cocktail dinner at the Shoppers Choice Kitchen and Patio Showroom on Thursday, May 26, 6-8 p.m.
The Menu:
• Grilled asparagus salad with coriander vinaigrette, brown butter & red radish
• Pimento cheese sandwich with bacon jam and fried pickles
• Braised pork shank with pineapple glaze and roasted red peppers
• Fresh berry parfait with local honey
The Cocktails:
• Absolut Vodka Ice Tea
• Pineapple-infused Avion Tequila Margarita
• Absolut Vodka Jalapeño Mule
• Malibu Bullfisher

The Shoppers Choice Kitchen and Patio Showroom will also present its Western Barbecue-themed Cooking Club on Saturday, June 4, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The menu features wings for appetizers, a strawberry salad with roasted pecans, a grilled filet as the entree and blueberry crunch for dessert.
Reservations can be made in advanced by calling Shoppers Choice, and a $20 upfront cooking club fee will be required to RSVP.
Iverstine Farms Butcher on track for mid-August opening
Iverstine Farms Butcher, which will occupy more than 1,600 square feet in Aldrich Market at 4765 Perkins Road, is on track for a mid-August opening.
The full-service butcher shop and smokehouse will offer a variety of grass-fed beef, pasture-raised Berkshire pork, chicken, holiday turkeys, lamb, cured and smoked sausages, bacon and ham.

The Walker Percy Weekend returns next weekend
The third annual Walker Percy Weekend, which was created to celebrate the acclaimed novelist’s life and work, returns June 3-4 in St. Francisville.
The literary festival will feature food, craft beer, bourbon tastings and live music. The festival will also sell individual tickets to its popular events, including the Crawfish and Craft Beer event, which features a Louisiana crawfish boil and cash bar with a selection of local craft beers.

Reminder: MPAC is next week
MPAC, the annual event highlighting Baton Rouge’s music, people, art and community, returns next week. The event takes place Thursday, June 2, 7:30-10:30 p.m. at the Shaw Center for the Arts, 100 Lafayette St.
Each floor of the Shaw Center will offer different cuisine, art and music. Food and craft cocktails will be served by City Pork, Mestizo, Jolie Pearl, Stroubes and Capital City Grill. Featured musicians include The Michael Foster Project, Andy Bourgeois Organ Trio, Groovy7 and DJ Push Play. Suggested attire is all-white.
