Beer pairing dinner at The Gregory Thursday

The Gregory in the Watermark Hotel will host a beer pairing dinner featuring the Colorado-based Avery Brewing Company Thursday, Sept. 14. Each of the five courses will be paired with a different beer, like the Belgian-style White Rascal or the Raspberry Sour.

Dyslexia Association of Baton Rouge to host wine tasting Friday

Wine tasting for a good cause? We’ll raise our glasses to that. The Dyslexia Association of Baton Rouge has organized a benefit event at Sullivan’s Steakhouse Friday, Sept. 15, that will include wine tasting and hors d’oeuvres. Proceeds go to The Brighton School, a Baton Rouge school with curriculum designed for students with dyslexia.

The event also includes a silent auction and live band.

The event is 6-9 p.m. Tickets in advance are $35 for individuals and $60 for couples. Tickets at the door are $45 for individuals and $75 for couples. Find tickets and more information here.


Bring the kids to a cooking class at Rouses Saturday

Know a Food Network Star in the making? Rouses will hold its Kids Cooking Class for kids ages 5-14 on Saturday, Sept. 16. In this hands-on class, participants will learn how to make turkey, ham or veggie wraps, hummus and fruit sushi.

The class is 10-11:30 a.m. at 14630 Village Market St. Purchase tickets for $10 here.


Support the Boy Scouts with a luncheon next Tuesday

The Boy Scouts of America will be hosting its Business & Industry Leaders Luncheon Tuesday, Sept. 19. Sponsors can reserve a table for 10 for $1,000. The keynote speaker is Wayne LaPierre.

Scheduled for 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., the event will be at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center.

Free rum, whiskey and vodka tasting at Radio Bar next Wednesday

Radio Bar will soon be stocked with Cane Land Distilling Co. spirits, and we’re pretty excited about it. Stop at Radio Bar after work Sept. 20 for a chance to sample spirits from local rum distillery. Try the Alma Grown mojito with lime-flavored cane juice.

The event will be 5:30-7:30 p.m.


Rosé and charcuterie tasting at Twine next Wednesday

On Sept. 20, say goodbye to summer with Twine Market as you sample seven different rosés and a charcuterie board. The selection includes organic and sustainable rosés from around the world.
