Spend some quality time with the Grinch Wednesday
If you loved that viral video of the Grinch being gifted an onion as much as we did, then you might just want to recreate that moment for yourself. That’s right, the Grinch himself is coming to The Velvet Cactus Wednesday, Dec. 19, 6:30-7:30 p.m., and you can get a photo with him free of charge.
Head to the restaurant at 7655 Old Hammond Highway, and while you’re at it, you might as well grab a bite to eat or sip a fresh margarita.
Win ‘Mean Girls’ trivia Wednesday
Get in, loser. We’re going to trivia. Oct. 3 may have already passed, but fortunately, it’s not too late to showcase your knowledge of all things Mean Girls. Barcadia hosts Mean Girls Trivia Wednesday, Dec. 19, 8-10:30 p.m.

Round up your cool moms and Plastics alike to form a team of up to eight people. Register your team here for $5 a person. Then, study your Burn Book and make your way down to Barcadia at 3347 Highland Road. Winning teams will receive gift cards and Mean Girls-related prizes.
Go for a festive holiday run Thursday
Those wanting to give themselves a little leeway before stuffing their faces on Christmas should check out Ugly Christmas Sweater Run on Thursday, Dec. 20, 5:30-7 p.m. put on by White Star Market and Varsity Sports.
Meet at White Star’s patio at 4624 Government St. for your choice of a two- or four-mile run. Those donning ugly Christmas sweaters will have a chance to win a $25 bar tab at Mouton or a $25 gift card to Varsity Sports. Ugly running is encouraged!
Enjoy a holiday tea with the kids Saturday
Warning: missing this event may be unbearable. Juban’s Creole Restaurant hosts its Teddy Bear Tea Saturday, Dec. 22, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. for a holiday experience that’s equal parts memorable and delicious.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Claus will join you at the restaurant, 3739 Perkins Road, for pictures and story time, and each child in attendance will receive a teddy bear. The afternoon menu includes shrimp and grits, pork grillades and scrambled eggs a la creme for the adults and grilled cheese, fried chicken and PB&Js for the kids.
Tickets are $55 per child and $65 per adult and can be purchased here.
De-stress before the holidays with brunch Sunday
Spend the eve of Christmas Eve unwinding with Bubbles and Brunch at Jones Creek Cafe & Oyster Bar Sunday, Dec. 23, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
This brunch special at the restaurant, 15005 Market St., includes bottomless mimosas for $4.50 with a purchase of an entrée. Entrées include a variety of three-egg omelets, chicken and waffles, Jack Daniels shrimp and grits, and homemade biscuits and gravy.
