Dine Roundup: Free burgers, a holiday brunch and other food-related events

Spend your lunch break in line for free burgers Wednesday

Burgersmith is opening a new location at 18303 Perkins Road, Suite E, and to launch its grand opening, the restaurant is giving away a free Smith burger—complete with grilled onions and Smith sauce—to the first 100 customers on Wednesday, Nov. 28, starting at 11 a.m.

Get some rum in your tum Thursday

Even if you haven’t been in school for a while, you might just want to sign up for a rum tasting class Thursday, Nov. 29, 7-8 p.m, at The Rum House on 2112 Perkins Road.

One ticket gets you a tasting of rums from St. Croix, a rum cocktail of your choosing and a class on everything you need to know about the history of those rums. Afterward, you may just want to pair your rum with a little Caribbean cuisine. Tickets are $20 online and $25 at the door.

Head out in your onesie Friday night

Finally, the moment has arrived … when we can wear our onesies out of the house and it will be completely socially acceptable. The Smiling Dog is hosting a Onesie Anniversary Party to celebrate its four-year anniversary in the city on Friday, Nov. 30, 8 p.m.-2 a.m.

The party at the bar, 4215 S. Sherwood Forest Blvd., will feature free food and an open bar until 9 p.m. Afterward, guests can take advantage of drink specials including $4 double wells, $4 Jameson, Car Bombs, Vegas Bombs and pitchers. Plus, those donning onesies (everyone, we hope) will get a surprise gift.

Get ready for an adults-only holiday brunch Saturday

Provisions on Perkins is hosting its Boozy Santa Brunch in its bar, patio and lounge areas Saturday, Dec. 1, 11 a.m.–2 p.m., and you may just want to leave the kids at home this time. The festivities will include holiday cocktails and brunch specials, a tacky Christmas sweater contest and photos with Santa Claus himself.

While you’re celebrating the holiday season at the restaurant and bar, 3535 Perkins Road, you’ll be able to enjoy the acoustic sounds of local artists Meagan and Jason Kraeuter of The Tricky Dickies.

Treat yourself to a $5 pulled pork creation Saturday

In honor of its five-year anniversary, City Pork Deli & Charcuterie is offering its Big Pigs—pulled pork sandwiches with coleslaw and barbecue on a brioche bun—for just $5 all day Saturday, Dec. 1, 11 a.m.–9 p.m. Dine in only.

While you’re chowing down on some pulled pork and barbecue at the deli, 2363 Hollydale Ave., you might want to catch an exclusive Saturday version of the restaurant’s happy hour 11 a.m.-3 p.m. with half-priced drinks.
