Dine Roundup: Cupcake Allie eyes Mid City; food fundraisers and more events happening this week

Cupcake Allie to close Perkins shop, focus on a Mid City location

The owners of Cupcake Allie announced through a Facebook post that they are not renewing their lease on a Perkins Road location, moving all of its operations to the Nicholson Drive location near LSU temporarily. That frees up owners Allie Offner Bookman and Jay Bookman to focus efforts on getting a long-stewing Mid City location off the ground.

“Now, we are free and clear to move forward aggressively with our Mid City location … So Mid City, get ready! We want to be there soon!” the owners said in the Facebook post. “Also, this opens the door for us to open locations in other parts of the surrounding areas, which we are looking into as well!”

It’s unclear whether the owners have a specific Mid City location in mind just yet.

Cupcake Allie is currently operating at 5251 Nicholson Drive.

Bistro Byronz holds fundraiser for Baton Rouge Pride Fest

On Monday, Oct. 10, 5-9 p.m., Bistro Byronz will host a fundraiser at both of its locations to help support the annual Baton Rouge Pride Fest.

A portion of each bill will go toward the fund when customers say they’re “bistro-ing for a cause,” according to the Facebook event page. This does not include alcohol purchases.

The two locations include 5412 Government St. and 8200 Village Plaza Court.

Zea Rotisserie & Grill host Theatre Baton Rouge fundraiser

Zea Rotisserie & Grill will donate a portion of its profits to Theatre Baton Rouge this Monday. On Oct. 10, 5-9 p.m., customers can tell their server they’re “dining with a purpose,” according to the Facebook event page.

Zea will also hold a raffle for a gift basket plus two tickets to Theatre Baton Rouge’s Peter and the Starcatcher, according to the event page.

Buc-ee’s no longer coming to Baton Rouge

Buc-ee’s, the popular Texas rest stop chain that announced amid much fanfare earlier this year it planned to open its first location outside the Lone Star State at the Greens at Millerville, has decided not to go forward with the project after all.

Developer Windy Gladney says Buc-ee’s corporate office notified him late last week it was terminating its purchase agreement to buy the 15-acre site at the intersection of Interstate 12 and Millerville Road on which the mammoth rest stop was to have been developed.

“I’m sad for Baton Rouge,” says Gladney. “We did everything they needed, and everything was ready for them to go.”
