Dine Roundup: Brunch events, free snowballs and more
Treat yourself to a free snowball Wednesday
That middle-of-the-summer heat can be brutal, but a free snowball can turn that around. Grab one on Wednesday, June 27, 2-6 p.m. at Free Snowball Day at Lake after Hours.
The location on 2380 O’Neal Lane is putting on the event, where staff will also be giving away a 30-ounce Yeti tumbler to one lucky winner as a way to say thank you to its customers.
Get the gang back together with The Office Trivia Wednesday
You know the drill: Bears, Beets, The Office Trivia. The show may have ended more than five years ago, but it’s forever in our hearts. Find out who will win the Dundie for their trivia knowledge Wednesday, June 27, at Barcadia Baton Rouge.

Those confident in their knowledge of all things Dunder Mifflin should head down to the restaurant and bar, at 3347 Highland Road, 8-10 p.m. This event is already getting a lot of buzz, so if you want to participate, you’ll want to sign your team up here before the 50-team limit is reached. Cost is $5 per player.
Topics of discussion include Diversity Day, The Health Care Plan and Michael Scott’s action screenplay ‘Threat Level Midnight,’ so study up. The top three finishers will receive cash prizes and several other Office-themed prizes will be available.
Celebrate the works and recipes of photographer Fonville Winans Thursday
Authors of The Fonville Winans Cookbook, Melinda Winans and Cynthia LeJeune Nobles, will present recipes from the late photographer and cook. The book is the culmination of years assembling and tasting his recipes after his passing.
Head down to the LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens at Ione Burden Conference Center (4560 Essen Lane) Thursday, June 28, at 6:30 p.m. to see how food can bring people together and recipes can live on for generations to come.
Winans fans will be able to view several of his previously unpublished photos and get the cookbook autographed by the authors. Members of the Herb Society of America-Baton Rouge may attend the event for free, but it’s open to visitors for $5.
Network and brunch with the Boss Babes Saturday
Ladies looking to network with fellow local businesswomen over a good brunch should look no further than the next stop on Boss Babes Brunch Tour, Another Broken Egg at 2531 Citiplace Court.
The eats and the mingling will take place Saturday, June 30, 11 a.m.-2 p.m, and will be hosted by the Boss Babes Brunch Tour creator herself, Jessica Alexander.
General admission is $35, which includes brunch and a goodie bag. Ticket sales end Friday, June 29, at 11:30 p.m., so you’ll want to get them here before then.
Brunch it up again on Sunday, this time with some jazz
If the brunch tour doesn’t satisfy your weekend brunch fix, you’ll want to go for round two with a jazz brunch at Lava Cantina at 10001 Perkins Rowe.
Baton-Rouge jazz band Christopher Coreil Trio will be playing as you enjoy the Mexican/Creole entrees for which Lava Cantina is known. The event is Sunday, July 1, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
If you can’t make it this month or just like what you see and want an encore, catch the trio again next month on Sunday, Aug. 5, in the same location.
