Celebrate BRQ’s One Year Anniversary on Wednesday

Anniversaries are a way to remind of us of those special days we will remember for the rest of our lives—the ones we will treasure forever—like weddings, friendships … and the opening of BRQ Seafood and Barbeque, of course.

The restaurant is celebrating its one-year anniversary Wednesday, June 6, with all-day drink specials, including $2 domestic beers and half off frosé. Then, 5-9 p.m., chow down on freshly cooked whole hog plates for $15. Goodies will also be available.

To join in on the celebration, you’ll want to head down to 10423 Jefferson Highway. You can get spots here while they’re hot (like the hogs will be).

Dance the night away ’80s style at Spanish Moon Thursday

Spanish Moon is throwing its last ’80s dance party before it undergoes major renovations. Say goodbye to the old Spoon layout while moon-walking your way across the dance floor to beats handpicked by DJs Ze Idolist and Gosh Zilla.

Plus, in true “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” fashion, ladies drink free until 10 p.m.

The party may not actually start until you walk in, but it formally begins Thursday, June 7, 9 p.m.-2 a.m. at the venue, 1109 Highland Road. $7 at the door.

In the meantime, you may want to start growing out those mullets and digging up those high-waisted jeans and neon tube tops—’80s attire is encouraged but not required.

Eat barbecue for a good cause at Beer Band and BBQ Thursday

Mix good eats with a good cause at Beer Band and BBQ at the LSU Rural Life Museum Thursday, June 7, 5:30-8:30 p.m. With your purchase of a ticket, you’ll get a hot plate of barbecue dinner prepared by Sheriff Mike Cazes, beer and wine.

It doesn’t stop there: Between bites you can listen to music by Micha Lipsmeyer, try your hand at a silent auction and partake in a Date Night Raffle. Best of all, 100% of the proceeds go to St. Vincent de Paul’s Uniform for Kids as part of the annual Sunrise Rotary fundraiser.

Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the event, at 4560 Essen Lane. Those interested can be purchase them by emailing [email protected].

Get spooked at Horror and Suspense Movie Trivia Night

Who says you need to wait until Halloween to get your spook on? Horror movie enthusiasts need only wait until Saturday, June 9, for Horror and Suspense Movie Trivia Night at The Station Sports Bar and Grill to get their mid-year spooky fix.

Gather yourself and up to three of your closest friends, dress like your favorite horror or suspense movie characters (if you want), and then head over to 4608 Bennington Ave. at 7 p.m. when the games will begin. Your knowledge of horror and suspense movies from all time periods will be put to the test, and winners will receive a prize.

The event is sponsored by 10/31 Consortium, a nonprofit that helps ensure under-served children are able to celebrate Halloween. Anyone who brings child-sized costume donations or nonperishable food donations will receive tickets to win a door prize.
