Alexander’s to hold last spring pop-up market this season
Alexander’s Highland Market will hold its last pop-up farmers market of the spring on Sunday, June 5, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Featured farms will be offering a variety of products, including fresh blueberries, seasonal vegetables and stoneground grits.Ā Pennington Biomedical Research Center will be giving out healthy eating tips and recipe samples, andĀ Tin Roof Brewing CompanyĀ and Mystic Vine will sample craft beer and wine respectively.

Family Movie Night downtown next Thursday
#FamilyMovieNightBR will be heldĀ downtown atĀ North Boulevard Town SquareĀ next Thursday, June 9, 6-9 p.m.
Families can enjoy music, trivia and a showing of the animatedĀ Disney filmĀ The Lion King. The Baton Rouge River Center will be providing free popcorn, and food trucks will be available for those who’d like to purchase food.

Cane Land Distilling Company moving forward with construction
The construction permits for the long-awaited Cane Land Distilling Company on St. Philip Street downtown have been approved, according to Daily Report.
Originally announced in mid-2013,Ā the local distillery aims to produce molasses-based and fresh-pressed cane juice rum.Ā Work on the 9,700-square-foot warehouse at 760 St. Philip St.Ā is expected to cost about $250,000, including the installation of all the moving parts needed to create ācane to glassā rum.

Fresh Fest returns at the Red Stick Farmers Market
The Red Stick Farmers Market‘s annual celebration of seasonal summer produce returned May 28 with its Butterfly Extravaganza. Fresh Fest features special events, local chefs and seasonal cooking demos, music and art and garden activities. This weekend, the Fresh FestĀ highlights dairy products for Dairy Day on June 4.Ā The market begins at 8 a.m. at Fifth and Main streets in downtown Baton Rouge Saturday, June 4.

Tin Roof to create fan-chosen beer for LSU
Tin Roof Brewing Company is releasing an officially licensed LSU beer to be launchedĀ in time for the 2016 football season and chosen by fans.
Fans 21 and older will be able to take part in a blind taste-testing panel to choose the beer Tin Roof will brew. The company has created a slate of eight to 10 test batches to sample in the blind tasting panel.
Participants must apply on anĀ online survey page andĀ be available either June 14 or June 18 for the taste test. Applications will be accepted until June 8, and the chosen applicants will be notified June 10.
