‘Daily Report’: Two restaurants moving into Jefferson Village Shopping Center

A new Italian restaurant is planned for the former DeAngelo’s space in the Jefferson Village Shopping Center at 7970 Jefferson Highway, joining the Creole-style restaurant Eliza, which had a soft opening last week.

The new restaurant will be called LaContea and will be the fifth establishment for owner Alfredo Kulici, who was born in Albania and trained as a chef in London. But Kulici’s restaurants, which are located in east Texas and Lake Charles, are not part of a chain or franchise operation, he says. Each is unique, with its own name and culinary theme.

LaContea will be a casual Italian dining restaurant with a menu of meat, seafood and pasta dishes as well as pizza.
