‘Daily Report’: Mid City’s Square 46, home to White Star Market, finally under construction
Construction officially began Monday on Square 46 in Mid City, approximately two months after a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the Government Street mixed-use development. The development will be home to White Star Market, a communal food hall that will feature about 10 different vendors.
Private family matters and the mid-August flooding contributed to the project’s delay, says architect Josh Hoffpauir, of Hoffpauir Studios, who is developing the project.
“It displaced all of the labor force, temporarily. … We had to regroup as far as getting those guys back in order,” Hoffpauir says of the devastating flooding. “It was a little bit of a challenge.”

He says the project got back on track Friday after developers were finally able to get their crew back together. Construction crews began breaking up the concrete lot Monday.
