‘Business Report’: Updates for new Starbucks, Newk’s Eatery

Dallas-based Verdad Real Estate has completed the purchase of a 1.7-acre plot in Towne Center from Teche Federal Bank for $1.66 million, according to land records filed with the East Baton Rouge Parish Clerk of Court late Monday. As Daily Report previously reported, the plot, located between Chase Bank and Carrabba’s Italian Grill on the corner of Commerce Circle and Corporate Boulevard, will be the site of Towne Center Business Park, which submitted final development plans for its 6,350-square-foot, two-suite building to the city-parish Planning Commission about a month ago. The development will house a Starbucks Coffee and a Newk’s Eatery, a Mississippi-based café chain that is also considering plans to open a location in the former Gatti’s Pizza at 3332 Lake St. on the edge of the LSU campus.
