BREADA markets celebrate 18th anniversary
BREADA is celebrating its 18th birthday with a bang at this weekend’s farmers market. The celebration kicks off Saturday at 7:50 a.m. with a harvest blessing before the opening of the weekly Red Stick Farmers Market at Fifth and Main streets. Mayor Kip Holden and BREAD board members will cut an anniversary cake at 9 a.m. At the Main Street Market, Ruffino’s executive chef Peter Sclafani will host a cooking demonstration and prepare a seasonal dish at 10 a.m. The John Gray Jazz Trio will provide the music, and other market activities include face painting and a cupcake walk for kids, Bloody Marys and mimosas for adults, and the Baton Rouge Arts Market will also celebrate its 16th anniversary with vendors along Fifth Street between Main and Laurel streets.
