Sweet Crude performs with Ship of Fools at the Hartley/Vey Studio Friday

New Orleans indie rock outfit Sweet Crude will headline a show at the Hartley/Vey Studio this Friday, with Red Stick-native folk-rock group Ship of Fools opening.

Sweet Crude is a part of the movement among young Louisianans to keep the state’s French-speaking traditions relevant through art. Check out their music here.

The show kicks off at 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased here. The theater is at 100 Lafayette St.


Tin Roof celebrates the release of its new IPA Saturday

If you’re a craft beer lover, this one is for you. Red Stick brewery Tin Roof launches its newest IPA, the Haze Melee, this Saturday. The hops-heavy brew is made with oats and has at a 7.5% alcohol percentage.

While you’re indulging in some Haze Melee, you’ll also be able to purchase food courtesy of Rock Paper Taco, Barbosa’s Barbeque & Catering, and Chow Yum Phat.

The party starts at noon Saturday, Feb. 2. Tin Roof Brewing Co. is at 1624 Wyoming St.


The Main Library at Goodwood’s Garden Cafe opens Saturday

The Main Library at Goodwood will cut the ribbon of its Garden Cafe this Saturday. To celebrate the opening of the brand-new cafe and eatery, the library will throw a grand opening party from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The event will feature live music, menu specials, raffles, activities and more. The library is at 7711 Goodwood Blvd.
