Alexander’s hosts June pop-up market

Fresh produce and local businesses will be on hand at Alexander’s Highland Market’s monthly pop-up market.

The June edition of the market kicks off Sunday, June 7, 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. The market features Creole tomatoes, bell peppers and other vegetables from Liuzza Produce Farm and blueberries and blackberries from J&D Blueberry Farm. Dietitians from Pennington Biomedical Research Center will also hand out samples of diabetic-friendly quiche. 225 contributor and author Maggie Heyn Richardson will sign and sell copies of her latest book, Hungry for Louisiana. Local breweries, including Covington Brewhouse, will also give out samples, starting at 11 a.m.

Other participating businesses include Red Stick Spice Co., Swamp Pop sodas and Delightful Palate dressings. The market is free and open to the community. For more information, call 615-7800.
