What the ‘225 Dine’ team is cooking, reading and more this week

October is upon us. And that means cooler temps, quintessential fall days and maybe more time spent out in the backyard or curled up with a book by the window. You might be in need of some good podcasts,  TV shows or new music to help you ease into the season as well.

Read on for what the 225 Dine team is into right now.

Kelly Fields’ ‘The Good Book of Southern Baking’

“Willa Jean has become a force to be reckoned with on the New Orleans food scene. The restaurant and bakery is known for its incredibly flaky biscuits, pies, and a ‘cookies & milk’ dessert that’s finished off with a whisk slathered in cookie dough. So knowing that owner Kelly Fields finally published a cookbook has me craving her baked goods and also pondering if I should take up baking myself. If anything, I could just stare at the incredible food photography in its pages and dream about my next opportunity to visit Willa Jean and satisfy my sweet tooth.”

For an inspiring and thought-provoking read

‘The Seat of the Soul’ by Gary Zukav

“Looking for a self-development book that is packed with gems and thought-shifting life advice? Look no further. This New York Times bestseller was originally published in 1989 and has been changing lives ever since. I’m currently reading the 25th anniversary edition with prefaces by Oprah Winfrey and Maya Angelou. Every chapter is a treat. With each turned page, the reader gains new insight on how to change their perspective of life, how to treat the world and its creatures, and how to distinguish what parts of you are aligned with your soul. This is a must-read.”

For some YouTube interiors inspo

The ‘Open Door’ series by ‘Architectural Digest’

“I’m really into this celebrity home video series right now. Hard to say what’s hooked me more: the lavish interior design or feeling like I’m getting to know what famous people are really like. I loved hearing Cara and Poppy Delevingne’s hilarious banter, and listening to Misty Copeland talk about her art collection. I officially want to be friends with the super cool, very unfussy Dakota Johnson. But I was most surprised by how much my husband and I both (!!!) lovedddd David Harbour’s New York loft. And I know, celeb homes are completely unrelatable, but I still think you can draw inspiration from them. Like how Jessica Alba and Cash Warren have a wall of old family photos to help keep their kids connected to their heritage, or how EVERY celeb has a bar in their home (which I’m now convinced could be replicated on an apartment-sized scale). Make sure you watch this series on your TV so you can get a good look at all those details. ?
