Though Baton Rouge had a respectable showing at the eighth annual Louisiana Seafood Cook-Off, a New Orleans chef took home the title of 2015 King of Louisiana Seafood.
Chef Mike Brewer of The Sammich took home the prizes for his sheepshead nachos with bacon fat tartar sauce and charred corn salsa. Brewer will represent Louisiana at the Great American Seafood Cook-Off Saturday, Aug. 8.
Chef Lyle Broussard of Jack Daniel’s Bar & Grill in Lake Charles received second-place recognition for his pan-roasted Gulf grouper with baby mustard greens, citrus salad and roasted white corn maque choux. Chef Michael Nelson of GW Fins in the Crescent City placed third with his New Orleans oyster artichoke soup.
