18 Steak welcomes new executive chef

Wine dinner scheduled for next week

L’Auberge Casino & Hotel Baton Rouge has brought on a critically acclaimed chef who has experience in some of New Orleans’ most respected kitchens.

Chef Jared Tees has been named the Capital City casino and hotel’s executive chef. According to a press release, Tees will be responsible for all culinary aspects of the L’Auberge dining outlets, including 18 Steak, Stadium Sports Bar & Grill, Bon Temps Buffet and PJ’s Café. Tees’ background includes working at Commander’s Palace, Dickie Brennan’s Bourbon House, Lüke, Besh Steak and Manning’s.

While under Tees’ direction, Dickie Brennan’s Bourbon House was named one of the “Best New Restaurants in America” by Esquire. In 2004, Louisiana Cookin’ called Tees a “Chef to Watch.” Gambit Weekly named Lüke “Best New Restaurant” in 2007.

Baton Rougeans can get a more formal introduction to Tees next week as 18 Steak will host a four-course Sbragia Family Vineyards wine pairing dinner Wednesday, Jan. 28. Cocktails start at 6 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. The menu starts with Louisiana beet and jumbo lump crab ensalada, followed by a soft-shell crab bisque and a main course of Wagyu beef short ribs with butternut squash and watercress. A chocolate molten cake with Kirschwasser cherries will be served for dessert with a French 75 cocktail.

Tickets are $99 per guest, which includes a complimentary bottle of wine. Reservations can be made by calling 224-4142.
