More than 25 local restaurants and chefs will be featured as part of a fundraiser next week.

L’Auberge Casino & Hotel will be the site for this year’s The Taste. Proceeds from the event will go toward care, programs and services at Mary Bird Perkins — Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center. The event kicks off at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 23. Tickets are $100 per person and $175 per couple and includes small plates and bites from area restaurants.

This year’s participating restaurants include 18 Steak, Bin 77, Louisiana Culinary Institute, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Restaurant IPO and Ruffino’s.

The event also includes a new Celebrity Chef Cook-off. In the cook-off, chef John Folse will team with Louisiana Lottery CEO Rose Hudson, chef Gino Sclafani will team with LSU men’s basketball coach Johnny Jones, and chef Cody Carroll will team with medical oncologist Dr. Vince Cataldo. The contestants will have 30 minutes to prepare a dish using a secret ingredient. The winner will be judged on presentation, taste and originality.

This year’s The Taste also includes a silent auction, raffle and music from the John Gray Jazz Trio.
