Zapp’s International Beer Fest is back

All the beer you can imagine is on tap and ready for this weekend’s Zapp’s International Beer Fest. The event starts at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Rural Life Museum (4560 Essen Lane) and features more than 200 foreign and domestic beers and homebrews for your tasting pleasure.

Rural Life Museum marketing director Elizabeth McInnis says this is the event’s 10th anniversary. While beer-lovers will no doubt enjoy brews from Louisiana’s own Tin Roof Brewing Company and Chafunkta Brewing Co., the homebrews will surprise attendees.

“They always surprise us,” she says. “We don’t know what they have until they get here. They come up with some stuff that doesn’t sound like it would taste great, but it winds up being the best-tasting beer. Last year, we had a jalapeńo beer.”

In addition to the beer, jambalaya and other dishes from Rotolo’s Pizzeria will also be on hand. Tickets are $35 per person. Call 765-2437 for more information. You must be 21 or older and have a valid I.D. to attend.
