Whispers

In town to throw out the first pitch at an LSU baseball game, pro golfer and former Tiger David Toms kicked up a minor fuss when he went out to play BREC’s Beaver Creek on March 8, then tweeted, “First time I’ve had to pay greens fees in 20 years.” BREC caught the tweet and did a quick refund, but some followers on Twitter were indignant that Toms thinks he is above paying greens fees. After playing, Toms posted, “BREC refunded my green fees, which was not necessary. I was kidding. Guess that is the power of twitter.” Follow Toms at twitter.com/davidtomsgolf.

Is Nicolas Cage the new Kirk Cameron? Well, the Oscar winner-turned-B-movie-king is confirmed to be headlining the big budget remake of the independent, faith-based production of the post-rapture Left Behind series that featured the Growing Pains actor. And now the film, slated for release in 2014, is about to set up shop at Celtic Media Centre in Baton Rouge for production. The film’s schedule has been delayed a few times, but sources say it will begin shooting very soon in the Capital City. Chad Michael Murray and Ashley Tisdale are on board to co-star.

And we thought it was just donuts. A watchful Whispers informant snapped this photo of seven BRPD patrol motorcycles parked off Siegen Lane on the front row at Twin Peaks, the national chain known for its chicken fried steak, Mile High Club, and of course, plaid-clad cleavage. At least if any patrons got handsy, backup was already on the scene.
