Whispers

Relax, Catholics. Faithful foodies can breath a sigh of relief. It may taste like chicken, but Archbishop Gregory Michael Aymond of the Archdiocese of New Orleans declared alligator officially on the menu for the Lenten season, which runs through March 30. The swamp-dwelling reptile was often a source of debate this time of year.

Broken-armed New England Patriot’s tight end Rob Gronkowski made quite a splash on the social scene before and after the Super Bowl when he was spotted partying early and often. Just days before sporting a “Sorry for Partying” T-shirt in Las Vegas, “The Gronk” was seen throwing down drinks while shirtless at Bogie’s near Tigerland. That means the polarizing player Deadspin calls a “human kegstand” traveled 75 miles from New Orleans to Baton Rouge just to socialize with LSU’s co-eds. Talk about a game-changing drive.

Two of Hollywood’s biggest stars flexed their muscles recently at FITT Baton Rouge, a private training facility that has seen everyone from pro ball players to Twilight‘s Taylor Lautner come through the doors. Cameron Diaz and Russell Crowe, who plays Superman’s Kryptonian father in the upcoming Man of Steel, exercised in the Red Stick last month with FITT owner Gerald Drefahl. “We’re not really inclined to ask why they are in town unless we get that information from the film company,” Drefahl says. “With the celebrities, like everyone else, we’re focused on improving the most complex machine known to man: the human body. We keep things confidential while they are in town.”
