What’s new

Funk rock guitarist and “Louisiana Party” jovial host Henry Turner Jr. has opened Baton Rouge’s newest music venue called Henry Turner Jr.’s Listening Room. Turner, who performs with his band The Flavor, describes the club as having an “old school chitlin’ circuit vibe” that calls back to the storied Baton Rouge clubs of 40 and 50 years ago. He plans to attract touring acts as well as throw concerts for veteran artists and local legends and, of course, performing there often himself. The venue is located at 2733 North St. in Mid City. henryturnerjr.com

P.F. Chang’s fast service Asian diner Pei Wei is now open featuring lettuce wraps, soups, salads as well as classic Asian wok entrees prepared in a variety of flavor profiles and noodle bowls. Smaller items such as vegetable spring rolls, pork egg rolls, crab wontons and more are also available. Pei Wei is the latest restaurant to open in the Acadian Village shopping center anchored by Trader Joe’s on Perkins Road. peiwei.com
