What ‘Schmucks’!
For Paul Rudd, raising his stock with the boss means more than results at the office in Jay Roach’s new comedy Dinner for Schmucks, in stores on DVD this week. Rudd also has to find the biggest oddball idiot he can and bring him to a dinner where his colleagues have invited other equally awkward guests. Rudd hits the jackpot with a nerdy IRS agent played by Steve Carrell, but unfortunately for Rudd, inviting Carrell to dinner means inviting him into every aspect of his life. A supporting cast of buffoons gives comedians like The Hangover’s Zach Galifianakis and Flight of the Concords star Jemaine Clement free license to freak out. Bruce Greenwood and Ron Livingston co-star as Rudd’s callous co-workers. Rated PG-13.
