WBR Museum hosts civil rights film series

Black history month kicks off at the West Baton Rouge Museum with a series of films focusing on the civil rights struggles in Louisiana. First up on Saturday is Taking a Seat for Justice: The 1960 Baton Rouge Sit-Ins, a documentary on the events surrounding the first sit-in demonstration cases to be argued before the United States Supreme Court. Filmmaker Dr. Rachel Emanuel will lead a discussion on the film. The series will continue next week with Journey for Justice: The A.P. Tureaud Story. Guest speakers, A.P. Tureaud, Jr. and Dr. Rachel Emanuel will screen the film they produced featuring the life and accomplishments of one of Louisiana’s most prominent Civil Rights activists and attorneys.
