Put on your dancing shoes—a Cajun music icon will perform a free show this week. Wayne Toups, the Crowley-native singer who mixes a little bit of country, rock, folk and R&B into his Cajun music gumbo, will perform at the Belle of Baton Rouge Friday. Toups’ career is quite the story. Not only has he had a few hit songs and albums, he’s also toured the world and garnered acclaim throughout the country. His collaboration with Steve Riley and Wilson Savoy under the moniker The Band Courtbouillon won a Grammy last year. Cajun fans won’t want to miss Friday’s show. The fun starts at 8 p.m., and the show is free.
