A legal drama with action, mystery and a cheetah? Famed director Ridley Scott (Prometheus, Gladiator) is tackling acclaimed writer Cormac McCarthy’s first screenplay with the drama The Counselor, which opens this Friday. The film stars Michael Fassbender as a lawyer who finds himself in over his head after he gets involved with drug trafficking. The cast is impeccable, with supporting turns from Brad Pitt, Penélope Cruz, Javier Bardem and Cameron Diaz, whose character supposedly has a pet cheetah. Though the characters look shady to the point of humor (Bardem’s hairdo is enough to induce an eye roll), there’s no denying the interest level in seeing if McCarthy can deliver a hit to the silver screen.
