Valkyrie flies in on DVD

Bryan Singer’s elaborate WWII drama Valkyrie, in stores now, stars Tom Cruise as Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg who helped lead a group of Nazi officers in a covert attempt to kill Hitler and prevent Germany from being blown off the map by Allied forces. Even though the outcome is known—how do you say “coupe de tat FAIL” in German?—the intricacies of the attempt on The Fuhrer’s life and what went wrong are riveting. As is this remarkable cast that includes Kenneth Branagh, Bill Nighy, Eddie Izzard, Tom Wilkinson and Terence Stamp. Rated R.
