‘Unstoppable’ force

City-crushing catastrophe leaves the FAA’s jurisdiction in Unstoppable, the new fast-paced action thriller from Top Gun director Tony Scott that is new in stores this week. Based on a real-life incident in 2001, Chris Pine of J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek reboot stars as a rookie conductor partnered with Denzel Washington, a veteran railroad engineer, who shows him the routine on his first day on the job. But this day turns out to be anything but routine when an unmanned train carrying combustible chemicals and poisonous gas barrels through Ohio without its air breaks and threatens to flatten an entire town if it crashes into its destination. Pine and Washington must come up with a plan to slow the train down and reverse its dangerous collision course with destruction. Rosario Dawson co-stars. Rated PG-13.
