Trick or Reader

Kate Winslet earned an Oscar for her riveting performance in The Reader, a WWII drama from Billy Elliot and The Hours director Stephen Daldry out now on DVD and Blu-ray. Ralph Fiennes plays a law student who is unexpectedly reunited with the older woman he conducted an affair with in his teens. While’s Winslet’s character is tried for Nazi war crimes, Fiennes uncovers a secret that could save her life, but also reveal more about his former lover than she wants others to know. This moral dilemma forms the crux of this intense psychological drama. Rated R.
