Travis Matte serves zydeco with side of hip-hop, rock

Since its inception in 2004, Travis Matte and the Zydeco Kingpins have created a submarine-sized blip on the Cajun music scene. With the new album, Hip-Hop Zyderock, the band peppers rock and hip-hop vibes atop traditional Cajun music. Fans of upbeat hits such as “Santa Claus Don’t Wear No Draws” and “Vibrator” will get a chance to catch Matte and the Kingpins on Thursday, July 10 at The Varsity. Doors open at 8 p.m. Show starts at 9:30 p.m. $10. 18 and up.
