Underworld creator Len Wiseman jogs the memories of action movie fanatics this Friday with his reinvention of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 1990 schlock classic Total Recall from RoboCop helmer Paul Verhoeven. On this trip into the mind and outer space, Colin Farrell takes on the role of factory drone Douglas Quaid, who visits a shadowy tech agency, Rekall, which promises to make his life more exciting by implanting false memories in his brain. But are these memories of espionage and action truly fake, or did the experiment awaken long-held secrets to Quaid’s thrilling past and the key to surviving the future? Quaid soon finds himself on the run and looking for someone to trust in a high stakes spy game that could cost him his head. Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Beil and Bryan Cranston co-star. Rated R.
