‘Tinker’ with it

Gary Oldman went mole hunting last fall in the espionage thriller Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, new on DVD this week. Set during the dangerous days of the Cold War, Oldman plays a nearly retired MI6 agent pulled back into duty to snuff out a traitor hiding within the ranks of the elite English spy agency. Someone thought to he trustworthy is handing over secrets to the Soviets, and Oldman must find the culprit without drawing attention to his search or getting himself killed in the process. An all-star cast of actors, including Tom Hardy, Ciran Hinds, John Hurt, and last year’s Best Actor Oscar winner Colin Firth are all in the mix of this slow-burning pot-boiler from up-and-coming Let the Right One In director Tomas Alfredson. Rated R.
