Tin Roof releases limited kegs and bottles of Rougarou this week

Hot off the announcement of the Louisiana Craft Brewery Trail and last week’s Louisiana Craft Beer Week, Baton Rouge’s Tin Roof Brewing Company is keeping the momentum going with the release of a new imperial black ale, dubbed Rougarou.

Named after the fictional Cajun creature that haunts the bayous late at night, the beer is hoppy with a robust malt backbone and 9.7% alcohol volume.

Rougarou is scheduled to be available on draft at The Bulldog, The Chimes, The Cove and The Pelican House. The beer will also be available in 22 oz. “bomber” bottles in local groceries such as Calandro’s, Matherne’s and Cuban Liquor by the end of the week as well.

Tin Roof co-founder Charles Caldwell says the release is very limited. Only a handful of kegs have been distributed throughout the Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Northshore markets.

“We only did 15 barrels of it, and there will be just a few kegs available in each market,” Caldwell says. “We’ve been waiting to do this, and we finally got the tank space. We figured now is a better time than ever and got it worked into our schedule.”

Tin Roof co-founder William McGehee says the craft brewery has made several small batches before, but the release will kick off the bomber series.

“We’re excited to get the bomber [22 oz. bottle] series started,” McGehee says. “It lets us create smaller batches of unique beers to share outside of the brewery.”
