Tidbits: Pink cupcakes for cancer at Cupcakes ‘n Cream, free pancakes at IHOP and more
Cupcakes ’n Cream bakery is offering a “pink-alicious” reason to indulge during the month of October. The bakery has created a breast cancer awareness cupcake confection and is donating half of the proceeds made from the sale of the treats to Woman’s Hospital breast cancer outreach and education programs. The jumbo cupcakes feature a buttercream pink and white swirl, topped with a pink fondant ribbon. At just $4 per cupcake, you can help fight breast cancer, support a local business and satisfy your sweet tooth all at the same time! … IHOP restaurants nationwide will celebrate Halloween a little early this year, offering kids 12 and under a free “Scary Face Pancake” as part of its No Tricks—Just Treats program, designed to provide kids with a safe and fun Halloween event. The “design-your-own” pancake includes an oversized signature buttermilk pancake with a whipped topping mouth and strawberry nose, served with two mini Oreo cookies and candy corn on the side to allow kids to create their own Halloween hotcake. The event takes place Friday, Oct. 28, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. … LSU Campus Life, LSU’s Service-Learning Student Advisory Council and BREC are partnering to benefit the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank from now through Nov. 10. BREC asks the LSU and East Baton Rouge Parish community to donate canned goods at one of the many collection sites within the park system. Last year, CANapalooza donated 26,000 cans of food to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. This year BREC and LSU would like the program to gather even more, providing sustenance to numerous local families in need—especially as the Baton Rouge Food Bank has recently been struggling with low donation numbers. Visit brec.org or email [email protected] for a complete listing of collection sites.
