Galatoire’s has unveiled plans for its new 7,500-square-foot restaurant, to be located on the 3000 block of Perkins Road, near the new IberiaBank. Commercial Properties, which is redeveloping the shopping center for the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, hopes to begin construction in coming weeks and deliver the restaurant before the holiday season 2012. Click here to see a rendering of the new restaurant’s exterior. … This week Ruffino’s Restaurant co-owners Chef Peter Sclafani and Ruffin Rodrigue will travel to the nation’s capital to represent Baton Rouge in the Washington D.C. Mardi Gras Celebration. They’ll serve a Ruffino’s favorite, Shrimp and Grits, to over 3,000 people who get to experience the best seafood dishes Louisiana has to offer. Baton Rougeans can pick up recipe cards at the restaurant to make this delicious dish at home. Chef Sclafani was invited by Tommy Cvitanovich, owner of Drago’s Restaurant and king of this year’s Washington ball. Ruffino’s is the only restaurant representing Baton Rouge at the event, organized by the Mystick Krewe of Louisianians. … Bistro Byronz is launching a special promotion for Mardi Gras to let customers score discounts and even free food at their restaurant throughout the season.
