‘Thor’ loser

The famous God of Thunder, Thor, made his big screen debut over the summer in Shakespearian actor/director Kenneth Branagh’s epic sci-fi adaptation of the popular pulp comic hero and Norse mythology all-star. New on DVD this week, the film follows the headstrong prince who is cast out of the magical realm of his birth and sentenced to a life on Earth where he goes from comical fish-out-of-water to one of the planet’s fiercest defenders from a deadly new enemy. Chris Hemsworth picks up the hammer as Thor and Natalie Portman portrays Jane Foster, a nurse who falls for this blond, otherworldly warrior. Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba and Kat Dennings co-star. Rated PG-13.
