The Voodoo that you do

As Jazz Fest’s younger brother with a penchant for indie and alternative rock, Voodoo Fest has been pretty consistent in bringing something for everyone in its 13 years at City Park in New Orleans. Previous years have seen the Beastie Boys, Queens of the Stone Age, Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer and the Black Keys.

Year 14 brings Green Day, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Jack White, Skrillex and the Avett Brothers, along with Louisiana favorites Irma Thomas, Royal Teeth, C.C. Adcock, Marcia Ball and more.

Expect big shows and big crowds at the two main stages, with a huge DJ stage and several smaller stages scattered around Roosevelt Mall in the shady park. This year, fans also have the option of camping on site.

This may actually be the last year Voodoo Fest is held around the running track. City Park is working on more permanent festival grounds just a stone’s throw away along the eastern edge of the park, with permanent bathroom facilities and open space to accommodate 40,000-person events.
