The Record Crate by Alex V. Cook – Slim Harpo Awards Recap, Dirtdobber Blues, and Who is Harry Nilsson?

The Slim Harpo awards went down to a packed room at the Louisiana State Museum; it seemed that everybody who’s anybody was in attendance except for the award recipients. Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Mighty Joe McClain both had scheduling problems, the award for long gone and thankfully for awards like this, not forgotten Lonesome Sundown (Cornelius Green) was picked up by his granddaughter, and Ray Davies of the Kinks sent a video conveying his thanks.
