Baton Rouge's #1 lifestyle magazine since 2005

The real deal

With four successful years under its belt, Willie’s Restaurant and Bar truly shines as a lunchtime hot spot in the Airline/Siegen area. At first glance, this low-key, sibling-owned restaurant has the look and feel of many Baton Rouge Cajun eateries. But when it comes to burgers, Willie’s means business.

As one of the city’s best-kept burger secrets, Willie’s serves up half-pound masterpieces with big flavor and modest prices.

If you’re feeling adventurous, take advantage of “The Will Deal” (starting at $5.50), their popular “build your own burger” option. Choose a well-seasoned ground beef patty or a flavorful grilled chicken breast, then, keep it simple by sandwiching your patty in Texas toast or a poboy bun; or venture out with sweet jalapeńo sourdough bread.

Finish it off with a host of endless toppings, including buffalo sauce, sautéed onions, chipotle mayo, remoulade and more. Willie’s pushes it over the edge with the “fried cheese slab” of buttery, stringy mozzarella.

While Willie’s may not be in the spotlight just yet, its burgers have the potential to one day wear the crown in the Red Stick.
