The piper is still calling
Baton Rouge snagged a big win today when iconic British rock band Led Zeppelin announced Oct. 17 screenings of its new concert film Celebration Day—shot during the group’s 2007 reunion at London’s O2 Arena for educational charities.
The Rave Mall of Louisiana 15 in Baton Rouge has been the only announced location in Louisiana for this special event rock concert film on Oct. 17. The film and concert album will be released on multiple physical and digital formats a month later on Nov. 19.
In honor of friend and Atlantic Record founder Ahmet Ertegun—a songwriter, label executive and monumental figure in rock music who produced and championed the talents from Crosby Stills & Nash, Dr. John and others—original Zeppelin members Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones joined by Jason Bonham, son of the band’s late drummer John Bonham, performed nearly two dozen of their greatest hits and hard-rocking blues rambles including “Kashmir”, “Dazed and Confused” and “Stairway to Heaven.”

I have a love-hate relationship with Zeppelin, but on the whole I find Page and Plant to be fascinating artists who managed to create their share of energetic magic on the way to becoming massively successful artists in the 1970s. “Good Times Bad Times,” track one, side one from the band’s 1969 self-titled debut still resonates.
